My 4/28 Publix Trip

I just returned from my trip to Publix and I did decent. I've done better in the past, but I still saved almost $90 on all the items in the picture above.

Tip for shopping in Publix: Try to focus on the Buy 1 Get 1 Free deals. That's where you'll score the biggest savings!

Here's what I did this trip:
2 boxes of Wheat Thin Stix with a rain check at 2 for $2.99 minus 2 $1 off 1 printable = .99
4 packages Bic Soleil Bella Razors at 2 for $5.49 minus 4 $3 off 1 printable = -$1.02 (they owe me)
1 box of Mrs. Paul's Fish at 2 for $5.59 (or 1 for $2.80) =$2.80
4 boxes of Jose Ole Taquito at 2 for $4.99 minus 4 $1 off 1 printable (there's now a $2 off 1 here) = $5.98
2 Gas-X Prevention at $4.39 each minus 2 $4 off 1 from 4/17 SS = .78 minus $5 off 2 Gas X products from the green advantage Publix flyer (store coupon) = -$4.22 (they owe me)
2 packages of Vita Salmon at 2 for $4.59 minus $1 off 2 from 4/17 SS = $3.59
4 packages of Dole Fruit at $2.00 each minus 4 $0.50 off 1 printable (doubles, so each is $1 off) = $4.00
1 box of Old El Paso taco shells at $1.25 each = $1.25
5 jars of Ragu Pizza Sauce at 2 for $1.49 = $3.73
2 containers of Helluva Good Dip at $2.09 each minus buy 1 get 1 free from yellow Publix flyer (store coupon) = $2.09 minus .50 off 1 printable (no longer available) (doubles to $1 off) = $1.09 (meant to use 2 .50 off 1 coupons, but forgot to hand over 2....would have been free if I had remembered)
6 packages of Fruit2Day juice drinks at 2 for $2.99 minus 6 .45 off 1 printables (each doubles which means .90 comes off) = $3.57
4 loaves of bread at 2 for $2.85 = $5.70
1 box of New York Texas Toast at $1.75 minus .50 off 1 from 3/06 SS (doubles to $1) = .75

Total: $28.21 plus tax
Total Value: $116.12 plus tax
Savings: $88.91

Mailbox Goodies

I plan to post all of my mailbox goodies in a weekly post on either Friday or Saturday. However I recieved this yesterday (Monday, April 25th) and will probably use it before I make my weekly post. Because of this I decided to go ahead and post seperately.

Anyway, what came in the mail was something that appeared to be an advertisement for JcPenney. On the front it says 'Our Gift to you $10 off a store purchase totaling $10 or more'

When you open it up there's a flap on the inside with my actual coupon to be used April 25th to May 8th. What's great about this is I can find something in the store for $10 and get it for FREE!

Keep an eye on your mailboxes. You just may get something as well!

I was going through my coupon binder last night and as I was pulling out coupons that were to expire on the 24th I remembered that some of those items were on sale at Kroger. So, I quickly put together a list of free or nearly free items at Kroger and made a quick trip to the store.

Here's a breakdown of what I purchased:

7 - tubes of Crest Toothpaste @ $1.00 each
3 - packages of McCormick's seasonings @ $0.92 each
1 - package of McCormick's seasoning @ $1.49 (I thought this was also .92 and am just now noticing that it's not, not ideal but I'm not going to return it)
1 - 40 oz. bottle of Heinz Ketchup @ $1.99
1 - 3 lb package of Kroger Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast @ $6.64 (after 5% off for buying Kroger brand)
4 - Tony's Pizza @ $1.00 each
2 - 16 slice packages of Kraft Cheese @ $1.79 each

April 24th Rite Aid Trip

After a quick glance over the Rite Aid ad and matching up my coupons I made a trip over to the store to see what goodies I could score. I do want to mention that I had $6 +up rewards from last week's shopping trip that I applied to today's trip.

Rite Aid is another great store to coupon shop in. However, it can be slightly more difficult to navigate than CVS. Plus, I've noticed that they tend to have limited amount of product on the shelf (and sometimes they have zero of an advertised item....this is on day 1). Rite Aid's +up rewards are like CVS ECB in that it's tied to your card (so sign up for a free one next time you're in the store) and often has a limit of 2 (sometimes more, sometimes less). Rite Aid also puts out what they call Video Value coupons. These are essentially short commercials that you watch in order to get a Rite Aid Store coupon (which can be used in addition to a manufacture coupon). It's free to sign up to watch these videos and I definately recommend doing so. Also, lately Rite Aid has been putting a survey at the bottom of their reciepts. All you have to do is log on here enter your 16 digit code and take a short survey (less than 5 min) and at the end you'll be allowed to print a coupon for $3 off your next purchase of $15 or more (this $15 is BEFORE coupons).

Here's Rite Aid's coupon policy. Again, it's a good idea to print and have with you just in case you need it.

Now for what I did while in the store today:

Tran #1: Purchase Veet Gel Cream @ $6.49
Purchase 3 eos Shaving Cream @ $2.99 each
              Purchase 1 individual pack of M&M's @ $0.88
Use $3 off a $15 purchase from a survey I took of my last visit
Use $2 off 1 Veet printable
Use $1 off 1 Veet video value coupon
Use $2 off 1 Veet in-ad coupon from this weeks ad (I checked with my cahsier about using both store coupons and she said it was allowed. In fact the in-ad coupon even advertised the video value coupon.)
Use 3 $2 +up rewards from last visit
             Paid $1.34 plus tax and got back $7.88 +up rewards (3-$2, 1-$1, & 1-$0.88)

As I was leaving I remembered that the candy deal had a limit of 2 so I did a 2nd tran:
Purchase 1 individual pack of Starburst @ $0.88
           Use $0.88 +up from Tran #1
Paid $0.00 plus tax! (Which was $0.03!) and I still got yet another $0.88 +up

Total out of pocket: $1.34 plus tax
Total value: $17.22
Rewards remaining: $7.88 +up

April 24th CVS Trip

After looking over the CVS Ad I noticed there wasn't too much of interest to me. However one thing did stand out so I made a quick trip over there to pick it up.

First I want to say that I absolutely love shopping at CVS! If you're new to couponing I think this is a great first store to learn! Their cashiers always seem to very knowledgeable on the coupon policy as well. Often you'll find an item in the ad that is free after Extra Care Bucks (ECB). These are printed on your reciept and can be used like cash and usually you have a month before they expire. Items with ECB tend to have a limit of 1 or 2, which is nice in that you don't have one person going in and clearing the shelf leaving nothing for anyone else. The ECB are tied to your card and tracked that way so, you'll want to sign up for a CVS card if you don't already have one.

Ok, so here's what I did today:

Purchase 3 Dove Men + Care Deodorant priced @ .99 each (this is a great price even if you don't have coupons)
Use 3 - $1 off 1 from the 3/27 RP (expires today 4/24)
Paid $0.00 plus tax!!!!! (My tax came to .18 which is a great deal on deodorant!!!)

Retail Value: $14.87

April 24th Walgreens Trip

After checking out the Walgreens Ad for the week of 4/24 and matching up coupons I decided to pick up a few moneymakers. I ended up doing 6 transactions, which is a lot, but needed to be done to keep out of pocket costs low and still guarantee that I recieve all of my Register Rewards (RR).

Walgreens can be a difficult store to shop in if you're just starting out because of all of their rules. Basically if you purchase an item that has a RR and you want 2 or more of the same item you'll have to do them in seperate transactions because only one like RR will print at a time. Also, Walgreens will not allow you to purchase an item use a coupon AND a RR......they want an equal # of items to coupons/RR. So, if you have 1 RR and a coupon you'll need to purchase 2 items (the 2nd could be a .30 piece of candy or whatever you find cheap). Finally, if you purchase a P&G item and recieve a RR and you want to purchase another P&G item that has a RR you can not use your first RR on it and expect to get the new one.

For example: Buy 1 Tide @ $6.99 get $2.00 RR back. If you purchase a 2nd Tide @ $6.99 use your $2.00 RR you will NOT get another $2.00 RR back. However, if you use a RR from Hershey you can use it on your Tide purchase and still recieve the new RR.

Have I confused you? If so, you're not alone. Walgreens takes some trial and error to get. This is why I recommend new couponers to start with CVS and/or Rite Aid. When you're ready to give Walgreens a try start SMALL.

Here's the Walgreens Coupon policy. I recommend printing it and keeping it with you just in case you come across a cashier who doesn't know the rules. It's great to have something to point to that says he/she is suppose to do it (of course in a super nice/helpful way)!

Ok, so here's what I ended up doing.

Tran #1: Purchase 1 Package of Stayfree pads @ $2.99
Use $1 off 1 stayfree pad printable
Paid $1.99 plus tax and recieved a $3 RR
Tran #2: Repeat Tran #1
Tran #3: Repeat Tran #1
Tran #4: Repeat Tran #1 (by now I have a total of 4 $3RR=$12)
Tran #5: Purchase 2 11 oz Folgers Coffee @ $2.79
              Purchase 2 M&M filled easter eggs @ .99 each
Use 2 - $1 off 1 Folgers from the 4/10 Redplum (RP) (expires today 4/24)
Use 1 - $2 off any 2 Mars Easter Candy from the April All You Magazine (Note: per Walgreens coupon policy this had to be adjusted down to $1.98 because the 2 eggs did not total $2)
Use 1 $3 off RR from previous transaction
              Paid .58 plus tax
Tran #6: Purchase 1 Luster 7 White Toothpaste @ $4.99
Purchase 1 Wonka Sweetarts @ $0.39 (filler item....needed to get coupon to item ratio)
Use $2 off 1 Luster 7 from a home mailer previously
Use $3 RR from Tran #2
Paid .38 plus tax and recieved a $4 RR

Total out of pocket: $8.92 plus tax
Original Value: $25.08 plus tax
And I have $7 in RR for my next visit. Or I can use that $7 at the Commissary since they also accept RR to reduce my grocery bill (think produce or meat)!

My Weekly Mailbox Goodies!

This week I recieved several mailbox goodies! These included my free sample of Degree Deodorant which also came with a $1 off 1 coupon, a coupon for a FREE pack of Dentyne Gum, a coupon for a FREE Glad Spring Collection Product, and finally a full sheet of Duck Tape Brand Duct Tape (yes, that's right.....black and white duct tape!). I personally think the duct tape is rather unique and can't wait to find a fun project/item to use it on!

If you're interested in the Duck Tape Brand Duct Tape there will be another giveaway on Duck Tape's facebook page on Monday, April 26th at 6pm. They have 10,000 to give away so your chances are pretty high of scoring this freebie!

Unfortunately the Dentyne Gum coupon came from an instant win game on their facebook page, which is no longer available to play. The coupon for Glade was also a pervious giveaway from Right at Home and no longer available.

The Degree sample and coupon came from Degree's facebook page. If you're interested in this giveaway they'll have more to give out on April 27th (no time listed currently).

I will do my best to post reminders for the giveaways.

Remember to sign up for those free samples if you can. Often they come with coupons (sometimes high values)! Plus, they make trips to the mailbox more fun as you could recieve a little surprise daily and these are good surprises (not like bills)!

Did you recieve any mailbox goodies this week? Please share in the comment section.

My Publix Trip

Today I made a quick stop to Publix for a few things. Todays ad was the same as last week because Publix extended the normal ad due to the Easter holiday. Because of this I didn't need too terribly much as I had picked up most everything last Thursday.

Before I get into to what was purchased I want to let you know that Publix accepts competitor coupons! This is great news for all Publix shoppers and means you can save even more! My Publix considers Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Target, Food Lion and Kroger competitors, which means I can use any of their store coupons at Publix. Also, my store puts a limit of 4 items on their Buy One Get One Free deals. So, if I need more than 4 I have to make a 2nd trip or have someone come with me (I usually make a 2nd trip.) Note: Check with your local store to see what coupons are accepted as all stores are different.

Today I purchased 4 - 1.5 qts of Breyers Ice Cream, 4 - 20 oz cans of Dole Pineapple, 2 -Yoplait Yoplus 4 pack yogurts, and 1 - 5 oz. bottle of Franks Hot Sauce. Total before sales, coupons, and tax (we have to pay tax on food here in GA) was $33.51.

Everything was BOGO Free except the hot sauce.

I had 2 - $1.50 off 2 Breyers Ice Cream Target printable coupons, 2 - .50 off 2 Dole pineapple coupons from the 4/10 SS, 2 - $1 off 1 Yoplait Yoplus Yogurt printable coupons, and 1 - $1 off 1 Franks Hot Sauce printable coupon

At Publix coupons valued at .50 or less are automatically doubled in GA. This means that my 2 - .50 off 2 coupons for Dole doubled to $1.

After sales and coupons (but before tax since that can vary greatly) I paid $10.35! I also donated a $1 to March of Dimes so it was really $11.35. Not too bad when you consider the ice cream is regularly priced at $5.49 each!!!

Welcome

Thanks for visiting Luv2Coupon!
